Where the Love for Christ Provides for All!
Since October 2015 The New Love Center has focused on that ministry. Incorprated in 2016 and securing our non profit status in 2017, we serve the greater Jersey Shore and surrounding area for the food insecure. Recognizing the need in this community, the organization was formed by the ciitizens of the community. Our area churches as well as community groups were instrumental in startup. We are a member agency of the Central PA Food Bank. This enables The New Love Center to purchase food at a discounted price. The generous donations both finanicial and food assists us in serving 400 families per month. A volunteer Board of Directors oversees the organization and continues to search for different ways to enhance our program. Food insecurity continues to be a major problem in this community for both the very young and the elderly. Over 50% of school children in the Jersey Shore School District receive a free breakfast and lunch program. Those numbrers alone indicate the need in our community for the food insecure. Seniors often must decide between paying for needed medication and rent vs food. Along with providing a box of food, The New Love Center also participates in the Senior Program (must be 60 or older) that supplements their regular box. Our backpack program is focused on school children. The backpacks are distributed every Friday during the school year to children whose parents have registered them. This gives the children microwavable food, drinks and snacks. All our programs consider the nutritional value of the food provided. Our volunteers are the backbone of this organization. They generously give of their time and talents to continue this ministry.
